Photography

Photography has been a skill I have been developing since I was young and has been a big part of my life.
My main focus is people in the outdoors, specifically within climbing. This developed from my love for the sport and going out into the Peak District with friends whilst I was at University in Sheffield.
I have taught myself to rig ropes up and be able to smoothly move up and down them as well as keeping myself suspended to get the perfect shot.

As I was when I picked up a camera, I’m still drawn to nature and still images. Focusing on the small details that people may miss and simply walk by.

In the past couple of years, I’ve been experimenting with different mediums of photography, specifically with film. I have been taking my film camera whenever I take my digital out to help me learn the differences and similarities and how I can swap my skills between them.
I don’t develop my own film but it’s something I’d like to try. I scan my film but don’t edit it as I believe that it should all be done within the camera with that medium of photography.

In terms of editing my digital images, I aim to do very little to them. I want the image to be as close to what I’m seeing in the moment. Small tweaks are always needed to portray how I want the image to be viewed but this can be as little as cropping it down to put more emphasis on the subject, to slightly adjusting lighting and colour levels to match reality.
